Is this what they mean when they say, “junk in the trunk”?

Amy, Sky and Abby took a nice hike the other weekend to Mirror Lake near Mt. Hood. After the easy climb to the lake, Sky convinced Amy and Abby to climb the ridge to Tom, Dick and Harry Peak, as he wanted to scout out the potential ski terrain in the bowl above the lake. Though there was some smoke haze in the air, the views from the ridge did not disappoint.
Amy, Sky and Abby took President’s Weekend to explore Amy’s old stomping ground; Bend, Oregon. They spent two days skiing the deep, dry powder on Tumalo Peak and one day at Mt. Bachelor Resort. The weekend included lots of skinning, powder runs, fog, lost gloves, stuck car out on a remote forest service road, 360° ice slides in the Element, beer and more beer (Sky sampled nearly every beer at the Deschutes Brewery!), sore legs, stinky ski gear, good food and more skinning and skiing. All in all it was an epic weekend!
The other week Sky took a day off to solo ski Mt. St. Helens. The goal was to reach the summit, but with an approaching storm, moving in fast, he had to turn around at the cloud line when visibility went to zero. Not a bad day, as he still got to ski approx. 3000 feet of vertical! Below are three pictures; the mountain in clouds, looking back towards Portland and the view down, near where he turned around.
Amy and Abby took off on a snowshoe trek near Hoodoo, Oregon while Sky participated in the telefest at the nearby resort. The next day, the team skinned up Potato Hill and skied the Hash Potato trail—it was more like mashed potatoes though! Great fun skiing through perfectly spaced burn scared hillside—very spooky.
We have a wonderful walking park near out home in Oakland. Redwood Park is just a short drive away, but once there it feels like you could be miles away from the urban Bay Area.
One of our favorite walks, drops a spur ridge into a deep canyon filled with Redwood trees. From there you climb back out of the top of the canyon
